Reading Girls’ School is ‘The best performing non selective school in Reading LA’ (Department for Education, 2017). Our vision is that Reading Girls’ School is regarded by our local community as their secondary school of choice. Our 2017 GCSE examination results have improved again this academic year with a Progress 8 figure of +0.25 and 11 of our students being in the top 30% nationally for English and Maths. In addition, we exceeded national average for %9-5 English & Maths combined. Specifically, our English Progress 8 score was 0.61 and % 9-5 was 65%.
Experience of highly effective curriculum development, teaching and learning will be essential. We are looking for somebody who can provide outstanding leadership to ensure continued improvement in learning and progress for all areas of English.
This role would suit someone who is looking to prepare their first steps into Senior leadership. This is not a tokenistic role. In addition to leading a department, you will lead on a specific area of school improvement pertinent to our 2018/19 plan to help you prepare for the next stage of your career.
You will be someone who is committed to the development of a stimulating, differentiated and contextualised curriculum experience, enabling all students to achieve their full potential. We are a partially selective, 11-16 secondary girls’ school, in south Reading. Our aim is a very clear one, which is to provide the best life-chances possible for every student. To that end, we challenge our students to the very edge of their academic capabilities whilst providing wrap-around support towards those goals. We believe in the importance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone, in order to improve.
