Y10 Dinton Pastures Trip
Y10 on an ecological discovery!
Ecologists taken to pastures new
On Friday 8 July, 30 keen ecologists from Year 10 took a trip to Dinton Pastures in Wokingham to analyse samples from a pond and lake. The group looked at various pond and lake life and even managed to have a paddle in the lake in between their busy work schedule. At the end of their study, the groups were able to advise the authorities at Dinton Pastures that the pond needed cleaning up. This was based on the high number of invertebrate indicators of pollution.
On the other hand, the data from each group’s research indicated that the lake was in peak condition as it had few invertebrate indicators of pollution and a large number of shrimps and other organisms that only survive in freshwater.
