Former Year 11 Students were celebrated at this ceremony, and received their certificates.
The students were very excited to see each other again, as many of them had not been in touch since results day in August. After a quick gossip with their friends, Mrs Angus opened proceedings with a welcome speech. The first presentations were of certificates for GCSE and BTEC results, announced by tutors and presented by Mrs Angus.
Then it was over to Heads of Faculty to announce Subject prizes and explain why the particular student was nominated, the girls received their awards from Mrs Lavender.
Next Mrs Wells recognised the excellent attendance of students, receiving awards for either one, two, or three years of 100% attendance. Mrs Angus handed out certificates and prizes.
Mrs Kink, who was Pastoral Leader for last years year 11 then had the please of announcing the tutor nominations for Achievement and Effort, the girls received their awards from Mrs Lavender.
The culmination of the event is always the "Special Awards" New to this years ceremony was the Rotary Award for Endeavour. The Rotary Club have been very supportive of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme being run from Reading Girls' School, and their financial support has enabled us to run the scheme for year 10 girls for the last 3 years. The very first co-hort were in this year 11 group, and the Rotary Club were kind enough to offer a substantial cash reward to two students, selected by Mr Boyd (DofE organiser) Mrs Angus then completed the rest of the special rewards.
