The LeadHERship Conference

The LeadHERship Conference, a special event hosted for girls from six of Reading Borough’s secondary schools on Friday 3rd October 2025.

Organised by Leighton Park School in partnership with The Female Lead, this inspiring day was all about empowering young women — helping them build confidence, find their voice, and challenge everyday sexism.

Keynote speaker Laura Bates, author and founder of The Everyday Sexism Project, shared powerful insights and personal stories that encouraged delegates to speak out, understand their rights, and drive change for a more equal society.

Alongside Laura, Holly Francis from The Female Lead introduced students to the idea of creating Female Lead Societies in their own schools — continuing the conversation and inspiring leadership long after the day itself.

As Tash Coccia, Senior Assistant Head at Leighton Park, explained, “Events like this give our young girls the opportunity to be heard, to listen, and to recognise that their voices truly matter. They are the changemakers of the future.”
