Reading Girls' School

School of Life-Savers

We are proud that every one of our students has the capacity to be able to save a life.

Thanks to the British Heart Foundation’s Nation of Lifesavers campaign, we acquired our own CPR Kit in 2016 and since then every student has been given the opportunity to learn vital skills and have the confidence to be able to cope in a cardiac emergency.

Every year during Transition Week, our new Year 7 students are given the opportunity to learn these vital skills and every Personal Development Day throughout the School year we ensure that every student has a refreshment of these skills.

Alongside the CPR, during Personal Development Days, we have also introduced basic First Aid skills for all our students, which include, for example, how to help with an asthma attack, severe allergic reactions and how to place someone in the recovery position.
