Reading Girls' School

Head of Year

Required for September 2020

37 Hours per week

Grade – NJC21-24 (£21,480-£27,497)

Due to the increase in student numbers in September 2019 and again in September 2020, we seek to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and organised Head of Year, who will help foster a caring and supportive learning environment for the girls at RGS.  Your experience of pastoral care will place our students’ welfare at the heart of the school. Working as part of the Pastoral Team you will be responsible for agreed year groups and lead on all areas of their school experience.

The role of the Head of Year is much more than administering matters of attendance and behaviour. Significantly, our vision aligns with Maslow’s theory of hierarchy of needs. At Reading Girls’ School, our ambition is that the Head of Year develops an identity and a sense of belonging both within a year group and across the school. Once achieved, the role of the Head of Year is to expose pupils to every opportunity that will help them to establish their own identity and a sense of direction for who they want to be.

Principal responsibilities:

  1. Subject Leaders
  2. Careers
  3. Attendance Team
  4. Quality of Education Team
  5. External Agencies
  6. Parents
  7. Student Leadership (Lead Teacher)

Completed application forms should be returned to A.Worley@thameslearningtrust.co.uk before the closing date of noon on 30th September 2020 with interviews held the following week.
