The band LZ7, did lessons with Year 7 and Year 8, covering PSHCE; RE; Music; discussing topics around positive choices; respect; love; relationships; music production and faith. All other students were invited to attend a mini concert at lunchtime. Here are some quotes from the staff who attended.
"Very hands on and presenter made sure he asked every girl he talked to her name so that the conversation was very personal. Talked about his religious beliefs but also embraced the fact that not everyone would agree with him. Invited the girls to ask him whatever they wanted and he answered as honestly as he could. An excellent experience for all." Mrs Nicholson (History teacher)
"Excellent music, engaging personalities, encouraging freedom of choice but gave personal reasons for being Christian in a Christian band. Students in Year 7 all loved it." Ms Conway (Head of PE)
"Yr8 were very enthusiastic with some willing volunteers asking sensible questions about Christianity. Some very keen and able dancers rushed to the front of the hall to bounce around in front of the stage!" Mrs Mitchell (Geography teacher)
"The students thoroughly enjoyed the show by LZ7. The interaction between the band and the pupils was brilliant, and a fair few of the students took some of the comments on board. The lead singer expressed his views, however the thing which I believe was successful was the way they didn’t seem to go over the top with this. I believe the students really enjoyed this fun (loud) workshop. Top work LZ7!" Mr Ashmore (Art teacher)
"The lunchtime concert was well attended, with students vying to be noticed for their dancing in order to win tickets to the evening event at St Lawrence Church. Four lucky winners were chosen from those attending at lunchtime in addition to the winners from the lessons in the morning. The staff also enjoyed the event, commenting on the good atmosphere and the friendliness of the performers." Mrs Whyte (Administration Manager)
